FIR against PSI after garment vendor injured in accidental firing

Surat: Kapodra police have filed an FIR and booked police sub-inspector PS Makwana for endangering human life through negligence, after he accidentally shot a garment vendor named Arvind Patel while cleaning his service revolver. The incident happened outside the city’s Nana Varachha police chowki on Sunday evening. Kapodra police have booked Makwana under Section 125 (B) of the BNS and a department inquiry is also likely to be initiated against the PSI.The bullet hit a water jug kept inside the chowki, deflecting towards Patel, who was standing a few feet away from the chowki. The bullet pierced through the garment vendor’s abdomen, resulting in him being rushed to the hospital, followed by a surgery. Patel is currently under observation. Kapodra police are investigating based on a complaint filed by his daughter Twinkle.
