Up to 50% subsidy to install grid-connected solar rooftop system
Central and state financial assistance will be available only if domestically manufactured solar panels using domestically manufactured solar cells are used

Panaji: State govt on Friday notified the Grid-Connected Rooftop Solar Promotion Scheme for all the residential sectors, group housing societies (GHS), resident welfare association (RWA), educational Institutions, industrial, commercial establishments and NGOs among others having permanent consumer account (CA) number issued from the electricity department.The scheme provides financial assistance for installation of a grid-connected solar rooftop system with net metering from 1kWp up to 10kWp for residential consumers, 90kWp for GHS/RWA and from 1kWp to 90kWp for all other types of consumers.State will provide a subsidy restricted to 50% up to 10kWp to the residential consumers based on the benchmark cost provided by the ministry of new and renewable energy (MNRE) with regard to the admissibility of central financial assistance (CFA) for rooftop solar projects installed under PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana.For GHS/RWA, state govt will provide subsidy of 50% for the consumers, restricted to 90kWp and based on the benchmark cost provided by MNRE (As per OM issued by MNRE with regards to the admissibility of CFA for rooftop solar projects installed under PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana and its amendment from time to time.The GHS/RWA connection eligible under the scheme shall be dedicated only to common facilities and should not be utilised for providing electricity supply to residential consumers within the GHS/RWA.For Educational Institutions, a subsidy of 50% restricted to 90kWp will be provided based on the benchmark cost provided by MNRE.Central and state financial assistance will be available only if domestically manufactured solar panels using domestically manufactured solar cells are used.Beneficiaries must install the grid-connected rooftop solar system only through vendors empanelled under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana and duly empanelled with the Goa Energy Development Agency (GEDA).The grid-connected solar power plants shall be eligible for state subsidy as per the technical specifications, quality certification, standards and testing for grid-connected rooftop solar PV systems/power plants indicated under the operational guidelines for implementation of PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana.
