THANE: A 35-year-old Mumbai woman has been booked for allegedly extorting nearly Rs 1.4 crore from a man by threatening to leak his private photos and videos, news agency PTI said on Saturday.The case was registered at Kasarvadavali police station after the 40-year-old man from Thane approached police with a complaint alleging that he had been blackmailed between June 2023 and May this year.According to the FIR, the woman allegedly had the man’s private photos and videos and threatened to release them and implicate him in false cases if he did not pay her.The complainant, a resident of Hiranandani Park in the Patlipada area, alleged that he paid the woman Rs 1,39,81,893 over nearly three years to prevent the material from being leaked.The accused, who lives in Andheri West in Mumbai, allegedly continued demanding money from him, the complaint stated.The situation escalated after the man stopped meeting her demands.A male caller allegedly contacted his wife and threatened to kill her and other members of the family, police said.Police have registered a case against the woman and are investigating the allegations.
