By: Suhas BirhadeNALASOPARA: A 16-year-old boy allegedly driving a car at high speed ran over two women pedestrians in Nalasopara East on Wednesday evening, killing one and seriously injuring the other.The incident took place at Datt Nagar around 4.45pm.The Tulinj police have detained the minor driver and registered a case against the vehicle owner and another man who allegedly allowed the minor to drive the car.The victims, Pragati More (36) and Shreya Misal (32), residents of Nagindas Pada in Nalasopara East, worked as domestic helpers.They had gone to Vasai for work on Wednesday morning and were returning home after getting off at Nalasopara railway station.While the two women were walking through Datt Nagar, a grey Maruti Eeco (MH 48 CT 6433), allegedly being driven at high speed, rammed into them. Both sustained injuries and were rushed by locals to Rakia Hospital in NagindasPada.Misal suffered serious injuries to her head, back, waist and knee. She died during treatment at around 9.45pm, police said.According to the police, the vehicle is owned by Rajesh Shah, while Mahesh Naik was the driver. The two allegedly allowed the minor to drive the vehicle.A case has been registered at Tulinj police station under sections 106(1), 125(b), 281 and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act, including 184, 181(4) and 180.Locals claimed that liquor bottles were found inside the vehicle.Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident and the presence of the bottles.
