MUMBAI: The Mumbai Crime Branch has arrested a 30-year-old IIT graduate, Vaibhav Mishra, from Bengaluru for allegedly sending threat messages to actor Ayushmann Khurrana on Instagram and demanding money.Police suspect it may have been a prank, but interrogation is underway to establish his motive.Investigators are questioning Mishra to determine why he sent the messages and whether the money demand was part of an extortion attempt.
After Tusshar Kapoor , another actor receives threat
The arrest comes days after actor Tusshar Kapoor allegedly received an extortion threat demanding Rs 5 crore.The sender claimed to be Harry Boxer, an alleged member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. However, the Mumbai Crime Branch found no match between the voice in the message and available samples of Boxer.Police suspected impersonation, and the probe was handed to the Anti-Extortion Cell. There is no confirmation of a link between the two cases.
