Cops recreate crime scene in Siya’s presence at Lohagad

Pune: The Pune Rural police on Sunday recreated the crime scene in connection with the murder of Ketan Agarwal (25), who was allegedly pushed off a cliff by fiancée Siya Goyal (20) and her alleged boyfriend, Chetan Chaudhary, at Lohagad Fort on June 18.Superintendent of police (Pune Rural) Sandeep Singh Gill, deputy superintendent of police Gajanan Tompe and Lonavla rural police inspector Dinesh Tayade were present during the scene reconstruction, carried out in Goyal’s presence. .Gill told reporters Goyal was taken to the exact spot in Lohagad Fort where the incident took place. “The entire sequence of events was reconstructed, including the route taken, where they sat and how the incident occurred,” he said.Ketan Agarwal, director of a real estate firm, died after falling from a cliff at Lohagad Fort in Maval taluka on June 18. Initially, the Pune Rural police registered a case of accidental death. Investigations later revealed the alleged involvement of Goyal and Chaudhary. The police arrested the duo on June 23 and they are in custody, currently.A Pune Rural police officer said, “We will take Chaudhary to the fort for a similar reconstruction later.” The exercise was conducted to verify Goyal and Chaudhary’s statements and corroborate them with CCTV footage and other evidence collected.The officer said the police used a fibre dummy to represent the victim during the reconstruction. “We told Goyal to explain each step — how they reached the spot, where Agarwal was pushed, how she signalled Chaudhary and how the actual push took place.”
