Panaji: GFP president and Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai on Thursday alleged the 2027 Goa assembly elections are being systematically manipulated through large-scale voter deletions. Calling the process a “rigged election” driven by “vote chori” (vote theft), he alleged that traditional non-BJP voters have been wiped from the state’s electoral rolls.He said that victory margins in Goa’s tight, small constituencies mean the strategic deletion of over a tenth of the electorate could easily alter outcome dynamics in favour of the ruling party.“When votes are stolen through the Election Commission, how can we trust the results of the 2027 elections if the software to decide who is a voter is controlled by the Centre?” Sardesai said. “If they start to disfranchise the traditional non-BJP voter, then what is the point of these rallies and yatras? The election is fixed.”He said that central control over voter registration software directly undermines state autonomy and democratic access, warning that affected voters risk losing access to govt records. “This is just the tip of the iceberg. A Goan voter’s rights cannot be decided in Delhi. It has to be decided in Goa.”Sardesai said he is willing to bury the hatchet with Congress. While welcoming AICC general secretary (organisation) K C Venugopal’s recent call for a united alliance, the MLA said that more steps need to be taken to bring the opposition parties together.“I am ready to sacrifice anything to remove BJP from govt,” Sardesai said, emphasising that defeating what he characterised as a “centralised dictatorship” takes precedence over individual party interests ahead of the 2027 polls.
