NEW DELHI: A 15-year-old boy fell into an open drain while chasing a kite in southeast Delhi’s Jasola on Saturday, following which a multi-agency search operation was launched to trace him.The teenager, identified as Mithun, had not been found till Sunday and teams from the Delhi Police, Delhi Fire Service, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and Boat Club were continuing the search.The incident took place around 11am on Saturday. The boy was reportedly chasing a kite when he fell into the open drain. His family members later raised the alarm after he went missing and informed the authorities.The Delhi Fire Service received information about the incident at 11.54am. Two fire tenders were immediately rushed to the spot and a search operation was launched. NDRF personnel, including divers, were also deployed to trace the teenager inside the drain.Mithun’s father, Awadhesh Kumar, told reporters that the family was unsure how exactly the teenager fell into the drain but had been searching for him since the incident. He said the drain was completely open and the family was hoping that the search teams would be able to locate him.Following the incident, teams from the East district administration, Boat Club and NDRF joined the operation along with the Delhi Fire Service and police. Personnel were searching the drain and nearby stretches in an attempt to trace the boy.The search operation was continuing on Sunday, with rescuers working to locate the teenager.
