KOLKATA: A woman has accused a man she met on social media of raping and sexually assaulting her for several years by allegedly blackmailing her with intimate photos and videos, police said on Thursday. According to news agency PTI, a zero FIR has been registered at Metiabruz police station and the case has been transferred to Bansdroni police station, where an investigation is now underway. No arrests have been made so far. According to the complaint, the woman came in contact with the accused around seven years ago through social media, and the two later went on several trips together. She alleged that during one such trip, the man raped her in a hotel room and secretly clicked photographs and recorded videos of her. The complaint further stated that the accused repeatedly sexually assaulted her over the years by threatening to make the photos and videos public if she resisted. “A zero FIR has been registered at the Metiabruz police station. As the accused is a resident of the Brahmapur area under the jurisdiction of Bansdroni police station, and a part of the alleged offences were reported to have taken place there, the case has been transferred to them after preliminary proceedings,” the officer told PTI.“The Bansdroni Police has initiated an investigation into the allegations, though no arrests have been made so far,” the officer added.
