KALYAN: An 18-year old woman allegedly died by suicide at her residence in Dombivli East, with preliminary investigations suggesting she was unable to cope with the death of her fiancé in a road accident around two weeks ago, police said on Wednesday. The deceased, identified as Khushi Naik, lived with her family at Yashwant Thakur Complex in the Sonarpada area of Dombivli East. She was found hanging at her home on Monday, following which family members alerted the local Manpada police. Officers from police station rushed to the spot and sent the body to Shastri Nagar Hospital for post-mortem. An accidental death report (ADR) has been registered, and further investigation is underway. Sandipan Shinde, senior police inspector of Manpada police station said, “The primary probe shows Khushi was engaged to a man identified as Mithun, and the couple was scheduled to marry in the coming days. However, Mithun was killed in a car accident about 15 days ago”. Neighbours told the police that Khushi had been under severe emotional distress following her fiancé’s sudden death and had become withdrawn in recent days. The incident has left residents of the locality in shock, with many expressing grief over the tragic sequence of events that claimed the lives of two young people within a fortnight.
