Namo Swachhata drive identifies 5L unusable items at health facilities

Gandhinagar: In the first five days of the weeklong Namo Swachhata Abhiyan, an intensive cleanliness drive being carried out across healthcare institutions in the state, more than 5 lakh unusable items have been identified, of which over 46,000 have already been disposed of on site.The state health department is conducting the campaign across all medical colleges, civil hospitals, district hospitals, community health centres, primary health centres and other health department offices. The initiative aims to ensure that citizens receive clean, hygienic, and safe healthcare services.A total of 5,11,221 unserviceable items, including wooden and metal furniture, ambulances, govt vehicles, electronic and IT equipment, and medical devices, have been identified during the first five days of the campaign.Of these, 46,555 items have already been disposed of on the premises, making 1,512 rooms usable again. In addition, around 10,165 items, including furniture, ambulances, govt vehicles, electronic and IT equipment, and medical devices, have been repaired and restored for use, according to an official statement.
