Panaji: State govt has signed an MoU with California-based Modern Data Company to explore the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in public service delivery, with a focus on identifying beneficiaries missing out on govt schemes, improving education outcomes and strengthening tourism and healthcare planning. The MoU was signed last week between the company and the Goa Investment Promotion Board. Under the collaboration, the company will work with the state to identify applications for its DataOS platform across government departments. One proposed use is to identify households at the panchayat level that are yet to receive benefits under government schemes. In education, AI could help flag students who require additional academic support, while tourism authorities could use tourist footfall forecasts to plan crowd management, transport and safety resources. In healthcare, the proposed applications include early disease detection, forecasting medicine requirements and identifying emerging health hotspots. The state aims to use the DataOS platform to bring together information from different government departments, enabling data-driven decisions, improving public services and making governance more citizen-centric.The collaboration aims to take one priority use case live by February or March, subject to departmental readiness and approvals, said Sanjoy Roy, Modern Data Company’s vice-president for APAC, the Middle East and the European Union.“Realising the potential of AI in govt requires the ability to connect information from different departments and put it to effective use. We look forward to working with Goa’s departments to take these applications from planning to implementation and build solutions that can be scaled to serve wider governance needs,” said Animesh Kumar, the company’s co-founder and chief technology officer.
