Monsoon weakens over goa, heavy rain likely to continue
A tree was uprooted and crashed onto the entrance of a roadside house in Campal, Panaji on Friday.

Panaji: The southwest monsoon has weakened to a normal phase over Goa, though moderate to heavy rainfall continued across the state over the last 24 hours, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.Ponda recorded the highest rainfall at 87mm, followed by Valpoi (70mm), Margao (69.6mm) and Dharbandora (68.4mm). Moderate rainfall was reported at several other places on Friday.Despite the rain, Goa’s cumulative seasonal rainfall since June 1 remains 27.2% below normal, with 748.5mm recorded against the normal 1,028.5mm.The IMD has forecast moderate to heavy rainfall across the state over the next few days. Heavy to very heavy rain accompanied by gusty winds of 50-60kmph is likely at a few places on July 4 and 5, with similar conditions expected to persist thereafter at isolated locations.
