Kolkata: A tenant verification drive by Bidhannagar Police led to the arrest of two Nigerian nationals allegedly staying in India without valid visas. The accused, Nnamdi Jonathan (36) and David Agyei (34), both from Lagos, were arrested by Baguiati police during a raid at Prantik Abas in Dashodrone Ghosh Para.According to police, a team conducting house-to-house tenant verification on Tuesday received information about foreign nationals residing in the area without valid documents. During the raid, the two allegedly tried to flee.Officers said both men failed to produce valid visa or immigration documents during questioning. “They admitted entering India earlier this year without valid documents in search of employment and had been staying here without a valid visa,” a senior Bidhannagar city police officer said.A case has been registered under Sec 23 of the Immigration and Foreigners Act.
