Surat: On the occasion of World Bamboo Day, Veer Narmad South Gujarat University (VNSGU) and Navsari Agricultural University, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) at the College of Forestry, NAU, on Friday.The MoU was signed by VNSGU registrar R C Gadhvi and M B Tandel, dean of the College of Forestry, NAU, in the presence of NAU vice-chancellor R M Naik and other officials.The signing ceremony was held as part of the World Bamboo Day celebrations organised under the Bamboo Workshop 2026 at NAU. The workshop was held on the theme, ‘Bamboo Farming, Propagation, Innovative Furniture and Product Crafting’. VNSGU faculty members Ankit M Changawala and Jenish Vagh also guided students during the workshop.The MoU seeks to foster academic and professional collaboration between the two universities through the exchange of knowledge and research in bamboo, wood and design. The partnership will include joint workshops, seminars, research programmes, exhibitions and entrepreneurship initiatives.The collaboration will also focus on developing innovative bamboo-based products, furniture and structures, enhancing students’ skills, supporting startups and promoting bamboo as a sustainable alternative to conventional materials.
