Tree falls, property damage and power outages at Sattari

Valpoi: Heavy rain triggered several incidents of tree falling, damage to property and power disruption across Sattari taluka on Tuesday.A jungle tree fell on the road and an electric pole near Anjunem dam at Keri, while another tree collapsed onto a garage and blocked a road at Narayan Nagar, Honda. Another tree fall incident was reported at Redeghat. In Nanus, a coconut tree snapped onto an electric pole, leading to a power outage in the area.A major incident occurred at Brahma Karmali when a 500-year-old Peepal tree crashed onto the residence of former Nagargao sarpanch Sumitra Nadkarni. The collapse severely damaged the roof and caused water to enter the house, destroying furniture and household belongings. The loss is estimated at around Rs 4 lakh.Personnel from the Valpoi fire and emergency services, assisted by local residents, carried out operations throughout the day to remove fallen trees and clear affected areas. No injuries were reported in any of the incidents.
