Mumbai: The Meghwadi police on Monday registered an FIR against three unidentified men who posed as police officers and threatened a jeweller with a gun under the pretext of questioning him. They fled with valuables worth Rs 13.5 lakh in Jogeshwari (East) on Saturday.The incident occurred when the jeweller was heading home after closing his shop, when the three men approached him in the Premnagar area. On asking, the three men claimed to be Crime Branch officers who were on a look out for a gang of robbers.A police officer said that when the complainant told them his name and address, the impostors made him sit in their vehicle, claiming they were taking him for questioning to the police station, and threatened him with a pistol. After intimidating him, the three snatched his bag and pretended to search for stolen booty or a weapon, accusing the complainant of being a member of the gang . Crime branch officials are probing the case.
