Pune: Talegaon Dabhade police on Tuesday registered a case of attempted murder against three minors for allegedly assaulting a 16-year-old teenager with sharp weapons. The attack was reportedly triggered by a message the teenager posted on a mobile messaging app about two men who were recently released on bail in a murder case.Police have detained the trio, aged 16 and 17, under sections 109 (attempt to murder) and 126 (wrongful restraint) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and relevant provisions of the Indian Arms Act.Assistant inspector Sharad Waghule of the Talegaon Dabhade police told TOI that the complainant works at a garment shop in Talegaon Dabhade.“Around 5pm on Tuesday, the three minors entered the shop on the pretext of buying a pair of jeans. One of the three accused took out a billhook and started assaulting the complainant,” Waghule said. The teenager suffered severe injuries to his head and neck.“When the complainant ran out of the shop, the other two minors allegedly urged the attacker to kill him. The attacker then assaulted the teenager again before the trio fled,” Waghule said.Police have detained the trio after receiving a complaint.Waghule said the investigation revealed that the complainant’s cousin and the latter’s friend, who had been detained in connection with a murder case, were recently released from a correctional home.“After their release, the complainant posted the message ‘King is back’ as his status on a mobile messaging app. The attack was a fallout of that status message,” Waghule said.He said one of the three minors has a criminal record. “Our investigation is under way,” he added.
