Pune: The civic administration has expedited work on the approach roads to the upcoming Suncity-Karvenagar river bridge, which is expected to be ready in the next few days.The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) requires around 9,700 sqm of land for two approach roads on the Karvenagar side, with the land acquisition cost estimated at around Rs 90 crore.The civic administration has also approached the district collector’s office to expedite the land acquisition process. However, the acquisition of all the required land parcels is unlikely to be completed before Nov.Civic officials said traffic movement in the Karvenagar area is expected to increase significantly after the inauguration of the Suncity-Karvenagar bridge.“The completion of the two approach roads is therefore essential to manage the additional vehicular traffic. The new connectivity is also expected to help reduce congestion on roads leading towards Karvenagar,” a civic official said.Additional municipal commissioner Omprakash Divte held a meeting on Tuesday to review the progress of the bridge work and the status of land acquisition proposals. Divte said the works have been taken up on priority.Last month, Pune mayor Manjusha Nagpure directed the civic administration to complete the remaining works on the Suncity-Karvenagar bridge by Oct.
