THANE: A dispute over money between a Shiv Sena youth leader and women involved in the textile business escalated into an alleged assault inside Kopri Police Station in Thane city on Monday night, triggering brief tension in the area.Police said Siddhesh Abhange, affiliated with the ruling Shiv Sena, was allegedly attacked inside the police station after both sides approached the station to resolve the monetary dispute.According to police, an argument broke out between the two sides inside the station premises. A businesswoman, accompanied by an associate, allegedly assaulted Abhange during the altercation.On-duty police personnel intervened and separated the parties, bringing the situation under control.Police said the process of registering an FIR was underway and statements from both sides were being recorded as part of the investigation.(With PTI inputs)
