Ahmedabad: A city sessions court on Wednesday denied regular bail to retired DySP Ashoksinh Chauhan in connection with an incident where he allegedly fired his licensed gun during a land dispute in Nehrunagar in May.Chauhan had previously filed a bail application, which was rejected by a city sessions court in June. This was his second plea, submitted after the police filed a chargesheet in the case.Chauhan and his children were charged with attempt to murder and other relevant sections of BNS by Satellite police. The FIR stated that Chauhan allegedly fired multiple rounds from his licensed pistol during a confrontation with members of a partnership firm operating Nehrunagar Patharanaa Bazaar. The complainant alleged that Chauhan and his family were upset over an ongoing civil dispute concerning a five-bigha parcel of land near Nehrunagar bus stand. The court considered the allegations that Chauhan allegedly fired three rounds into the ground, but two rounds at the complainant. The court said that the chargesheet revealed that Chauhan is the main culprit in the matter. “Considering overall facts and circumstances of the case, at this stage, this court is of the considered opinion that mere filing of the chargesheet cannot be considered as major change in circumstances and hence, after considering overall facts and circumstances of the case, I do not incline to use the discretionary power of this court in favour of the present applicant to enlarge him on regular bail,” the court said.
