Ahmedabad: Gujarat’s Kailash Mansarovar pilgrims stayed away from the Nepal-China border this week after delays in permits and visas disrupted several planned trips. Ahmedabad-based tour operator Manish Sharma, said his 150-member group was scheduled to leave on Aug 23.The group comprised pilgrims from Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Bhavnagar, Surat, Vadodara and Anand, besides travellers from Mumbai and NRIs. The group would have reached the border around Aug 26, when floods hit parts of the route.“We were waiting for the permits and visas,” Sharma said. “The international permit did not come through for our group. The delay kept the Gujarat group away from the affected border areas.”The disruption has left tour operators closely monitoring the situation before confirming fresh departures.
