Chennai: AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami has announced a protest at Palani on July 25, alleging illegal registration of valuable land belonging to the Palani Mutt. Claiming that the ongoing CB-CID investigation is compromised, he called for a CBI probe to ensure transparency. In a statement, Palaniswami said the mutt land, worth around Rs 100 crore, was previously managed by the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments department. However, following a regime change and the formation of the “Thooya Sakthi” govt, the property was fraudulently registered in the names of two individuals. He pointed to a suspicious sequence of events, including the temporary transfer of a sub-registrar from 60 km away to execute the land registration.Senior party functionary and former minister Dindigul C Srinivasan will lead the protest along with party cadres and senior leaders, demanding a central agency probe into the alleged land grab.
