Margao: The dengue situation at the South Goa district police headquarters appears to have stabilised, with no fresh cases reported since two personnel had tested positive, police sources said.The Margao urban health centre has intensified surveillance in and around the police station, continuing fogging operations and anti-larval measures over the past few days as a precaution to prevent any resurgence.Health officials said the sustained vigil follows earlier reports of garbage accumulation around the premises, which had raised concerns that the area could become a breeding ground for the aedes mosquito, the primary carrier of the dengue virus. After residents flagged the issue and cases were detected among police personnel, the health department initiated fogging drives in the vicinity.Health workers have also been conducting anti-larval operations, including checking for stagnant water and other potential breeding sites within and around the police station compound, as part of an ongoing containment strategy.Officials said surveillance will not be reduced immediately, as the monsoon continues to create favourable conditions for mosquito breeding in poorly maintained areas. Police sources said sanitation at the station premises has also improved.
