New Delhi: Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) Friday opened its recently developed 13-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and medical equipment at Mata Gujri Hospital in Tilak Nagar.The hospital received a daily OPD footfall of 1,600 and there had been a long demand for an NICU unit there, said MCD mayor Pravesh Wahi after inaugurating the facilities.“With the availability of a 13-bed NICU at the hospital, critically ill newborns will now be able to receive essential intensive care and monitoring within the hospital itself. In addition, modern medical equipment such as a colour Doppler ultrasound machine, C-Arm machine for orthopaedic surgeries, optical coherence tomography and phaco machine for the treatment of eye-related diseases have also been made available at the hospital. These facilities will help provide better healthcare services to patients,” said the mayor. He added that a CT scan machine would also be installed at the hospital in the near future.
