Pune: A 35-year-old man allegedly throttled his wife to death before dying by suicide by hanging himself at their rented house in Kuruli village of Khed taluka around 4am on Thursday.The Pimpri Chinchwad police found a note purportedly written by the man on the floor. The note stated that he killed his wife because she has been in a relationship with another man and was planning to elope with him.Police sub-inspector SR Jaybhay of South Mahalunge police told TOI that the incident came to light around 4am when the couple’s 10-year-old son woke up and saw his father hanging from the ceiling and his mother lying unresponsive.The boy alerted a neighbour, who then informed the police. “We reached the spot. Prima facie revealed that the man had throttled his wife to death before ending his own life,” Jaybhay said.The officer said the family hailed from the Beed district. The man worked for a private company in Mahalunge MIDC. The couple had a son and a daughter. “When the incident happened, their daughter was at her grandmother’s house,” the officer said.Jaybhay said the man suspected had found that his wife was talking to another man, whose name is mentioned in the note. The woman’s father has lodged a complaint. “Our investigation is on,” Jaybhay said.
