Pune: An earthmoving machine operator (22) allegedly bludgeoned his wife (18) to death after she eloped with his assistant.The murder took place near Boribhadak village in Daund taluka, about 35km from Pune, on Friday night. The suspect’s assistant lodged a complaint with the Yavat police. He was arrested on Saturday.A police officer said, “According to the complainant, he worked as an assistant to the suspect, who hails from Amethi in Uttar Pradesh. He used to visit the suspect’s house for dinner, where he developed a relationship with the suspect’s wife. When the suspect came to know about it, he eloped with the woman and stayed in Ambernath for a month. The suspect threatened to kill them, over calls.”The couple had recently returned to Pune, living together in Naigaon. “On Friday night, the complainant had taken the woman to a hospital, when the suspect reached there. He allegedly abused the woman and in order to pacify him, the woman went with the suspect. Around 9.30pm, the suspect called the complainant near Boribhadak village to pick up the woman. When he reached, the suspect began quarrelling with her. He picked up a stone and bludgeoned her to death,” the officer added.The complainant fled the scene and alerted the police. “We found the woman dead on the spot.” he said.
