PUNE: The investigation into the alleged murder of Pune realtor Ketan Agarwal has revealed another detail about the planning behind the crime, with Pune Rural Police claiming that co-accused Chetan Chaudhary travelled nearly 90 km to Lohagad Fort on a scooter instead of a car to avoid leaving a trail at toll plazas.According to investigators, Chaudhary deliberately chose a scooter for the journey from Pune on June 18 because he feared a car could be detected through toll plaza records.“He travelled to the fort on a scooter because he feared a car could be detected at toll plazas. We have seized the scooter,” an investigating officer said.Police also alleged that Chaudhary tried to conceal his identity after reaching the fort. Investigators said he climbed the fort wearing a hoodie, later removed it and remained in a black T-shirt before putting the hoodie back on while leaving.According to police, the accused had allegedly planned the murder in advance. Investigators claimed Chaudhary followed Ketan Agarwal and his fiancée, Siya Goyal, while Goyal was to give a pre-arranged signal by sitting down, either on the pretext of drinking water or tying her shoelaces, before the alleged push into the gorge.

Police said they had deliberately chosen the signal so that Goyal would not be standing close to Agarwal at the time of the attack, fearing he could instinctively grab her while falling.Investigators have also claimed the accused had earlier visited Lohagad Fort to identify a suitable location and carried out alleged practice runs before the incident. Police said they are still trying to establish where those rehearsals took place.On Sunday, investigators took Goyal to Lohagad Fort to reconstruct the crime scene using a dummy to establish the sequence of events leading to Agarwal’s death.Ketan Agarwal died after allegedly being pushed into a gorge at Lohagad Fort on June 18. Police have arrested his fiancée, Siya Goyal, and her alleged partner, Chetan Chaudhary, accusing them of conspiring to kill him. Both accused remain in police custody, and investigators are expected to seek an extension of their remand as the probe continues.
