Bicholim: The agitation against a mega housing project in Karapur entered its 78th day on Sunday, with villagers reiterating that they will continue their protest until the project is scrapped. Residents allege that the project violates environmental norms.Under the banner Karapur Gramastha Ekvoticho Aawaz, villagers have been staging a sit-in protest near the Shri Shantadurga Temple. Women participating in the agitation said they remain resolute and are prepared to continue the protest for as long as necessary.Gauresh Ghadi, president of the Karapur Biodiversity Management Committee, said villagers launched a tree-planting drive on Sunday in areas where project authorities had allegedly cleared vegetation. Ghadi said a peacock was sighted in the area on Sunday and expressed hope that wildlife would gradually return if the ecosystem is restored.under-construction project site.
