Times News NetworkMargao: Margao MLA Digambar Kamat on Tuesday directed Margao Municipal Council (MMC) officials not to delay processing people’s files, as he resolved several grievances on the spot during a public grievance meeting at the municipality.Most complaints raised at the meeting related to delays in processing applications for trade licence transfers and house tax. Kamat said he had sought a list of pending applications from the municipality to expedite their disposal after residents complained that files were being held up without justification.“The main purpose of this meeting is to provide relief to people. This is an opportunity for poor sections of society to directly approach me and get their problems resolved, instead of making repeated rounds of the municipality. Not everybody has influence or the right connections,” Kamat said.He also highlighted repair works undertaken at the New Municipal Market and Gandhi Market using his MLA funds, claiming that projects of this scale had never been carried out in either market. “There could be some issues, but I will resolve them soon,” he said.Responding to complaints of irregular door-to-door waste collection in some areas, Kamat said he had suggested that the Margao municipality introduce a dedicated helpline to enable residents to register complaints and ensure prompt action.“I personally heard every grievance, reviewed each issue in detail, and ensured that several matters were resolved on the spot. The remaining concerns have been taken up with the authorities concerned, with clear instructions for their prompt and effective resolution,” he said.
