Times News NetworkVasco: Mormugao police arrested jeweller Bhimappa Yallappa Chalwadi, 35, who had been evading arrest for several days, from Hosapete in Karnataka.He was produced before the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC), Vasco, which remanded him in two days’ police custody.A police team was sent to Hosapete to trace the accused. Officers arrested Chalwadi, who is accused of cheating several women from Headland-Sada, Mormugao and Vasco by allegedly misappropriating gold pledged at his PBC Jewellers shop.Police said they have received multiple complaints from women who alleged that they had pledged gold at the shop in exchange for loans offered at low interest rates.A case has been registered under Sections 316(5) and 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Further investigation is under way.
