Chennai: A 33-year-old history-sheeter was arrested by Puzhal police for abducting and sexually harassing a woman bus conductor after forcing her into an autorickshaw.Police said the woman who worked as a contract conductor with the Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) was waiting near the Kavangarai signal for a bus. Rajesh, 33, a history-sheeter and husband of one of the victim’s friends, arrived in an autorickshaw and insisted that he speak to her in private.When the woman refused, Rajesh snatched her mobile phone and threatened to spread defamatory rumours about her if she did not get into the vehicle. Fearing his threats, she boarded the vehicle.Police said Rajesh then drove towards the Vyasarpadi bus depot and made sexual advances towards her. After he dropped her near the depot and fled, the woman lodged a complaint with Puzhal police.Police arrested Rajesh on charges of sexual harassment, outraging the modesty of a woman, using obscene language, and criminal intimidation, as well as provisions of the Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women Act.
