Chennai: Madras high court stayed the DVAC probe against one of the accused persons, T Ramesh, in the alleged Tasmac irregularities case. Ramesh is an associate of former minister V Senthil Balaji, who is also an accused in the case.The first bench of Chief Justice Sushrut Arvind Dharmadhikari and Justice G Arul Murugan passed the order after noting that Ramesh was arrested at the Puzhal central prison gate while he was being released on bail on July 30.Recording the submissions of senior advocate V Ragavachari that the petitioner was not even named in the FIR, the court said, “This fact gains significance, as the fact remains that the petitioner is not an accused in the present case.“To balance the rights and protect the interests, we deem it fit to pass an interim order staying all further proceedings and investigations in the case insofar as they concern the petitioner, pending disposal of this writ petition, the court said.According to the petitioner, he was running a fitness centre in Karur. He was not named as an accused anywhere in the FIR registered on July 28 in connection with the Tasmac irregularities case.He alleged that he was forced to make a false statement implicating Senthilbalaji and his brother in the case while in police custody.
