Ahmedabad: The State Monitoring Cell (SMC) on Monday seized Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) worth Rs 19.3 lakh during a raid at a stud farm near Gandhinagar, and arrested four persons and detained a juvenile.Acting on specific inputs, an SMC team led by sub-inspector V K Rathod conducted a raid at Chehar stud farm near Baliyadev Temple in Koba village, which is under the jurisdiction of Infocity police station. During the search, the officers recovered 5,153 bottles of IMFL valued at Rs 19.3 lakh.Police also seized a pickup worth Rs 4 lakh and four mobile phones valued at Rs 40,000. The total value of the seized items was estimated at Rs 23.7 lakh.Police said the liquor stock was allegedly being stored at the stud farm in violation of Gujarat’s prohibition laws. The seized items included bottles of whisky, vodka, rum and beer of various labels and pack sizes. Officials did not disclose whether the stock was intended for local distribution or transportation outside the district.Those arrested are: Dinesh Singh Sisodiya of Rajasthan’s Balotara district, Ravat Singh Bhati of Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer district, and Devubha of Mehsana district. A juvenile was also detained and processed under provisions of the Juvenile Justice Act.Police have identified Koba resident Ashok Raval as a wanted accused in the case. They are also searching for two unidentified persons suspected of supplying the liquor and trying to trace the owner and occupants of an SUV believed to have been used in the operation.An offence has been registered under sections of the Gujarat Prohibition Act, the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Juvenile Justice Act. The accused and the seized property were handed over to Infocity police station for further investigation.Officials said the probe will focus on the source of the liquor, its supply chain and the intended distribution network.
