Gandhinagar: Amreli is all set to host Gujarat’s state-level Independence Day celebrations on Saturday, with chief minister Bhupendra Patel reviewing preparations on Friday and visiting a Gujarat police exhibition showcasing advanced weaponry and operational capabilities.Patel began his visit by offering prayers at the historic Nagnath Mahadev temple, regarded as Amreli’s presiding deity. He later inspected an arms and equipment exhibition organised by Gujarat Police at Samarth Vyayam Mandir, where modern weapons, surveillance tools and specialised equipment used by the police and the Chetak Commando Force were on display.The exhibition featured a range of firearms, including 7.62mm sniper rifles, Galil sniper rifles, anti-material rifles, AK-47s, Sig Sauer 5.56mm SF rifles, Excalibur and INSAS rifles. Other specialised weapons on display included automatic and under-barrel grenade launchers, Glock pistols, MP-5 sub-machine guns, JVPC and Amogh carbines.Visitors were also shown advanced equipment such as corner-shot systems, night-vision devices, optical instruments and rappelling gear. Non-lethal equipment, including multi-cell launchers, gas guns, and taser guns, was among the highlights.The exhibition provided an insight into operational readiness of the Chetak Commando Force. Patel commended Gujarat Police for their professionalism, preparedness and efficiency in maintaining law and order and meeting security challenges.The chief minister also visited the Shantaben Haribhai Gajera educational complex, where he interacted with students and encouraged them to pursue their goals.
