NEW DELHI: Food regulator FSSAI has suspended the licence of Seven Seas Hospitality Pvt Ltd over poor hygiene and sanitation conditions and other food safety violations.The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), in a social media post on Wednesday, said it suspended the company’s licence after finding “serious non-compliances” during an inspection of its food premises, news agnecy PTI reported.The company recorded a “compliance score of only 30%”, the regulator said.The FSSAI found poor hygiene and sanitation conditions, including water stagnation, foul odour, filth and inadequate housekeeping in food preparation areas.“Deteriorated food materials” were also found, including fungal growth on tomatoes, papaya, jaggery and cashew nuts.Rotten capsicum and degraded cooking oils were also found, PTI reported.The regulator said there were serious deficiencies in food storage, including inadequate segregation of vegetarian and non-vegetarian food.Deficiencies were also observed in pest control, with cockroaches and house flies found at the premises.The FSSAI said basic infrastructure facilities were lacking and non-compliance was observed in sanitation, record maintenance and water testing.Its officials destroyed “74 kg/litres” of non-compliant food articles.In view of the violations of food safety rules, the FSSAI suspended the licence of Seven Seas Hospitality Pvt Ltd with immediate effect.The company has been directed to cease all food business activities during the suspension period.(With agency inputs)
