Margao: If good fortune has an address this festive season, it runs through Kushavati district — Quepem, Sanvordem and now Sanguem — where three Ganesh mandals are outdoing each other to see who can turn a donation coupon into the season’s biggest jackpot. It was Sanvordem’s Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal which was first off the block last month, rolling out its donation coupon with a fleet of hatchbacks, sedans and SUVs splashed across the card, and the draw slated for Sep 25.The Quepem Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal’s coupon sale drew queues stretching a kilometre and a half from the Borimol sports complex to the Tilamol traffic island, with a BMW X3 and Rs 45 lakh cash leading a prize list that featured BMW iX1, a Kia Seltos and 14 other vehicles. Now it is Sanguem’s turn to raise the stakes — and this time, the jackpot has moved out of the showroom and into the property market altogether. The Sangampur Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal has lined up three flats among its top prizes: a 2BHK at Kayji Palladium, near Power House, in Margao for the first prize, a 2BHK in Ponda’s Kurtarkar Nagari complex for second, and a 2BHK in South Meadows at Nondurlim, Sanguem, for third.Cars follow the real estate to complete the bonanza. A Toyota Hycross 7S, a Mahindra XEV 9S and a Tata Sierra EV occupy the fourth to sixth spots, followed by an E-Vitara EV, a Kia Seltos diesel and an MG Windsor Pro. Further down the list are Tata Punch EVs, Tata Tiago EVs, Maruti Breeza VXi Turbos and Citroen C3s — 21 prizes in all, a mix of apartments, electric SUVs and hatchbacks. The Sangampur mandal’s “mahaprasad” coupons will be formally opened on Aug 22, with sales beginning the following day at the municipal guest house at Khairikhatem, Sanguem.
