Surat: A car stunt video shot during an event at Auro University has raised questions over discipline and safety on the educational campus, prompting Surat police to book the event organiser.Ichhapore police booked Ahmedabad-based Alpesh Rabari, who organised the event, for allegedly committing a negligent act endangering human life under the BNS and Motor Vehicles Act.The video shows two cars fitted with beacon-like lights resembling those used on police patrol vehicles performing drifting and other dangerous stunts. At one point, a person is seen emerging from a car window while holding a firecracker. The stunts were performed amid heavy fireworks around the vehicles.The video drew criticism on social media, with people questioning the holding of such an event on a university campus and its possible influence on students.When contacted by TOI, Jay Mer, an Auro University official, said the university administration had only provided space for the event.Ichhapore police inspector Shital Shah said, “We have taken this incident very seriously and booked the organiser, Alpesh Rabari of Ahmedabad, for a negligent act endangering human lives. We are investigating whether anyone else was involved.”Police also found that the event had been organised without police permission.
