New Delhi: The 2026-27 EWS/freeship admission process has entered the document-verification and finalisation stage following the computerised draw of lots.Students selected for admission under the EWS/Freeship category in Classes II onwards in private unaided recognised schools in Delhi will have to undergo document verification before reporting to their allotted schools, according to guidelines issued by Directorate of Education (DoE).The guidelines follow the first computerised draw of lots, conducted on Sept 24 for available EWS/Freeship seats for the 2026-27 academic session. The exercise covers private unaided recognised schools running on land allotted by DDA or govt, excluding minority schools.Successful applicants will be informed about their allotted school and document verification centre through SMS. Results can also be checked on the DoE and EWS admission portals using the registration ID and password. Candidates will have to report to designated verification centres with documents including the application form, Aadhaar cards, proof of residence and date of birth, valid income certificate or eligible ration/food security card, and the previous academic year’s marksheet.Candidates whose documents are found in order will be recommended for admission to their allotted schools and must report there by Oct 31. Those who fail to appear for verification or subsequently fail to report to the school within the stipulated period will lose their candidature. A final opportunity for scrutiny has been provided from Oct 5 to 8 for successful candidates who initially fail to report.DoE has also directed schools not to charge tuition fees from students admitted under this category. Schools must provide free books, uniforms and writing material within a week of the student reporting for admission.
