NEW DELHI: A woman has alleged that a Rapido rider took her to a deserted location while she was travelling to the Vishwavidyalaya, following which she jumped off the scooter after the rider allegedly refused to stop despite repeated requests. In a video shared on social media, the woman said she had booked the ride while travelling from her office. According to her, the rider took her towards an isolated area and told her that the Vishwavidyalaya was directly ahead. She said she became suspicious after realising that the area was deserted and asked the rider to stop. The woman said she offered to pay the rider extra money if he stopped, but he allegedly refused.“When I asked him to stop me, he didn’t stop me,” she said, adding that her brothers later told her that the area was one where people rarely travelled. She alleged that she tried to stop the rider herself but was unsuccessful.“I hit him, but he didn’t stop. Then I jumped off the scooter,” she said. The woman said she sustained injuries to her hand and head after jumping off the moving scooter.“I have a wound on my hand and on my head. Now, I am going to the doctor,” she said. She also said she had complained to the hospital but had not received a response. The woman appealed to Rapido to provide details of the rider so that she could file a complaint.“Please, people of Rapido, give me the details of that person. Please, give me a response so that I can complain,” she said. The woman said she was yet to receive any response from Rapido regarding her complaint and urged the company to share the rider’s details so that she could approach the authorities. She appealed to the company to take the incident seriously, saying that what happened to her could happen to other passengers as well.
