CHENNAI: A gang of at least 10 Class XI students rounded up and murdered a Class XII student near Tiruvottiyur bus terminus adjoining a govt school on Friday evening. Police identified the deceased as Dhanush, 16, a resident of Vasantha Nagar. He was studying at Jai Gopal Garodia Govt Higher Secondary School.According to preliminary investigation, a group of 10 Class XI boys took Dhanush from the school to the nearby terminus and assaulted him. After Dhanush fell unconscious, the culprits fled the scene.Some onlookers found the boy around 4.45pm and alerted police, who rushed to the spot and shifted him to Govt Stanley Hospital. Doctors examined him and declared him dead on arrival.Police sent the body for a postmortem. Police teams questioned and recorded statements from students, teachers and witnesses to establish the circumstances leading to the murder and identify the motive behind it.The Thiruvottiyur police registered a murder case and teams are searching for the students involved in the murder.
