Chennai: State govt on Saturday appointed acclaimed cinematographer Manoj Paramahamsa the president of the Tamil Nadu Government MGR Film and Television Institute in Taramani. He succeeds Trotsky Marudu, who was appointed for the post by the DMK govt in 2024.He has worked as a cinematographer in 25 films in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam industries, including three—‘Nanban’, ‘Beast’ and ‘Leo’—with chief minister C Joseph Vijay.The govt has also constituted a 10-member selection committee to enrol students for undergraduate courses in cinematography, audiography, screenplay writing and direction, film editing, animation and visual effects. The committee comprises directors Vetrimaran, Lingusamy, Perarasu, cinematographers R Velrajan, Vijay Milton, editor Srihar Prasad among others.
