Calangute: Amid a rise in accidents involving rental vehicles, the Calangute traffic cell conducted a special enforcement drive against illegally rented private four-wheelers operating with white registration plates and seized five vehicles over the weekend.The drive was aimed at curbing unauthorised commercial transport activities in the tourist belt.Meanwhile, Calangute police continued nakabandi operations at various locations across the coastal belt to strengthen traffic enforcement and improve road safety. Police said strict action is being taken against motorists driving under the influence of alcohol, with regular checks conducted to curb drunken driving and prevent accidents.Reiterating their commitment to enforcing transport regulations, police said similar drives will continue in the coming days.Calangute MLA Michael Lobo also demanded that govt stop rental vehicles. He said the chief minister has instructed police to take action against violators.
