Pune: A 14-year-old boy from Pimple Gurav drowned while swimming with five friends at Kund Mala near Talegaon Dabhade early on Wednesday. His parents learnt about the incident in the afternoon as his friends had fled the spot without informing them.Talegaon MIDC police registered a case of accidental death. An officer from the Talegaon MIDC police said the victim, Swapnil Sonawane, and his five friends had arrived at Kund Mala for a swim around 6am on Wednesday. “Sonawane drowned within a few minutes of entering the water. His friends, who were terrified, fled the spot without informing his parents.”Sonawane’s parents began searching for him when he did not return home by the afternoon. After learning about the incident, they informed the police. “We called the rescue team to search for Sonawane. Wanyajeev Rakshak Maval team was alerted around 1pm. They searched the water and recovered Sonawane’s body and sent it for postmortem,” the officer said.
