Mumbai: After a truck rammed into the bridge wall of Mrinal Tai Gore flyover extension on Friday afternoon, resulting in a portion of the sound barrier falling onto SV Road near Oshiwara market, BMC has started installing rumbler strips on the sharp turns on the flyover to curtail accidents.“We had put aggregates on the mastic surface to make it non-slippery, but there was criticism about the same. Now, after the accident, we have identified four spots, which have turns and slopes, and installed 15 mm-thick rumblers at two spots. We will install these rumblers at two other spots too. We will install cautionary signboards and speed-limit boards too. Besides, we will carry out repairs of the sound barriers too,” said a civic official. Dhaval Shah of Lokhandwala Oshiwara Citizens Association pointed out that the civic body has installed rumblers on the downward slope on the east-to-west section, but skidding still remains an issue on many other sections of the flyover extension.Citizens had expressed concern about the accidents involving heavy vehicles on the flyover extension.
