Gandhinagar: Newly appointed BJP national secretary Jagdish Patel has been given additional charge as the co-in charge of Uttar Pradesh, alongside Vinod Tawde, who will serve as the in charge, according to a statement issued by the BJP central office on Tuesday.

Jagdish, 61, represented Amraiwadi assembly constituency in Ahmedabad between 2019 and 2022. The seat had fallen vacant after sitting BJP MLA Hasmukh Patel quit after being elected to the Lok Sabha in 2019. BJP fielded Jagdish, who successfully defeated Congress candidate Dharmendra Patel to retain the seat for the party.

In another appointment, Rajya Sabha MP and BJP national headquarters in charge, Tarun Chugh, has been appointed in charge of Gujarat state.
