New Delhi: A 31-year-old man was critically injured after his motorcycle was allegedly hit by a speeding Audi before it hit another SUV in southwest Delhi’s Vikaspuri Saturday evening. The driver of the car allegedly abandoned his car and absconded after the incident.The injured biker has been identified as Rahul, a resident of Vikas Nagar in west Delhi.According to the police, a PCR call was received from the owner of another SUV around 8.02 pm at Uttam Nagar police station. Cops rushed to the spot near Vikaspuri fish market flyover, where all three vehicles were found in damaged condition. Rahul, who was grievously injured in the crash after being flung off his motorcycle, was rushed to Mata Roop Rani Mago Hospital, where he is undergoing treatment and has been declared unfit for statement.Police said that an inquiry with an eyewitness, Pawan Kumar Sharma from Rohini, revealed that the Audi, which was speeding and driven recklessly, rammed into the motorcycle and later into the other car. The driver of the Audi, which was reportedly being driven from the wrong side, allegedly abandoned it and fled from the spot.Visuals of the aftermath of the collision showed the front portion of the other SUV completely mangled, while the bike was also damaged. The Delhi-registered car’s hood was smashed, windshield shattered and internal components exposed. The handle and front portion of the seat were also damaged in the case of the bike. The Audi, bearing a Gujarat registration number, was seen with some damage in the rear.All three vehicles have been seized, and a case has been registered under sections 281 (rash driving or riding on a public way) and 125 (act endangering life or personal safety of others) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Uttam Nagar police station. Police said CCTV footage from nearby areas is being analysed for trace and apprehend the driver of the vehicle.
