Ahmedabad: A 37-year-old woman has accused a friend and his mother of borrowing Rs 35 lakh from her for a business venture, then allegedly cutting off contact.According to the complaint, the woman had known the two accused since 2016. In Aug 2023, they allegedly told her that they had started a new business and needed financial assistance. They initially sought Rs 25 lakh, assuring her they would return the amount within three to four months.The woman said she did not have the money immediately but agreed to help after her savings became available in April 2024. She then transferred Rs 25 lakh through RTGS from her bank account to the man’s mother’s account.Later that month, the duo allegedly sought another Rs 10 lakh, saying they needed the money for a month. As the woman did not have the required amount, she approached her brother, who transferred the money directly to the man’s bank account.The complainant said that after the one-month period ended, she asked for the money back. The duo allegedly assured her that they would repay the entire Rs 35 lakh within three to four months.According to the complaint, they continued postponing repayment despite repeated requests. In Oct 2025, they allegedly promised to return the money within a week. In Nov, they reportedly stopped answering her calls.The woman said she later visited the man’s residence twice but found it locked. In Feb 2026, she contacted his mother regarding the repayment but was allegedly told not to call again.The woman has alleged that the accused obtained the money by promising to repay it and then cut off contact, causing her financial loss. Satellite police have registered the complaint and are expected to verify the bank transactions and other evidence.
