Ahmedabad: ₹2L cash, valuables worth ₹7L stolen from Kanoria Hospital

Ahmedabad: Thieves broke into the chairman’s office at Kanoria Hospital and Research Centre near Bhat and decamped with expensive items and cash with a total value of Rs 9 lakh, police said on Tuesday.The theft came to light on June 23, when hospital officials were informed by the chairman, K K Kanoria, who is currently in Mumbai. Senior staff rushed to the premises and found the office ransacked.A glass door at the office had been damaged. A locker inside the room was broken open. Drawers and other storage units were found in disarray.Hospital authorities said the stolen property included 20 gold coins, a gold Hanuman idol, silver coins, a silver guitar-shaped artefact, and a silver Buddha coin worth Rs 7 lakh, and Rs 2 lakh cash.Police examined CCTV footage from the hospital. Cops spotted an unidentified man, clad in a white shirt and face covered with a cloth, moving suspiciously inside the premises between 2.30am and 3.15am.
