Surat: Sarthana police have booked a diamond artisan for allegedly raping his former wife, whom he had divorced, and cheating her of Rs 2 lakh and gold ornaments.According to the complaint, the couple had married around 15 years ago and divorced a few years ago. They have two children, and after the separation, they agreed to take care of one child each.About 18 months ago, the accused allegedly called the woman on the pretext of paying the school fees of the child living with him. When she reached the designated spot, he allegedly forced her into a sexual relationship.The accused also allegedly took Rs 2 lakh in cash and 28 grams of gold ornaments from her but failed to return them. The woman subsequently approached Sarthana police, who registered a complaint against the accused.
